Warthog Battlemech by LKY13 Warthog Battlemech by LKY13
Another commission for Mr. Balk. This is the Warthog -- an 85 ton assault mech with x2 rotary auto-cannon 5's, an ultra auto-cannon 10, and x2 medium lasers. This guy is a proud member of the Warpigs Merc. outfit.

Happy New Year!

I'd love this baby when Mektek released it in their Mekpak series.

This mech is heavily underestimated and usually wrongly fitted. This mech is a perfect infighter.

Awesomesauce.

I swear I have seen the 2 RAC/5, 1 UAC/10 before in the same spots (and barrel numbers), admitedly, that's all that seems familiar, but I still gotta know if this was posted somewhere else already or if we have a case of simultaneous development, and I am remembering a different machine.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, Mr. Balk also commissioned Anthony (Shimmering-Sword) to paint up the same machine. His beautiful work can be seen here... [link]

Ah, So I'm not going crazy(er than I already am).

I try to add Battletech artists to my watch list as I find them, though In Anthony's case, I was watching before he did anything official.

With dual rotary ac5s, it is anything BUT.

I understand that moar dakka is always preferable, but only so much ammo will fit within!

Well, without knowing the armor/engine ratings (though I always get a visual sense that chicken walkers are meant to be faster) on this one at least, could swap the mediums for smalls to get an extra ton, or even drop them entirely to carry two more tons :)

It's not mass, it's volume!

Okay, in SSW I can get 85 on 3/5 with a light fusion and endo, with four tons of rotary and two of ultra ammo, allowing another rotary 5 to be carried. But then yeah its full up with the always nice choice of endo or ammo in the head...

Four tons for two rotary autocannons wouldn't go that far. The usual rule of thumb is three tons per rotary cannon. I'd heartily recommend adding a ton or two more per, and using the freed tonnage to beef up the engine.
